Explore economic growth with maps and marketing award at the BC Economic Summit
Hi fellow economic developer,
Welcome back to Field Notes—where data meets community insight. Every story starts with a purpose—something you’re trying to uncover, explain, or change. And behind every strong story is data that gives it weight. But the path from raw data to real understanding isn’t always straightforward. It winds through different perspectives, places, and patterns. That’s why maps, especially those with layered functionality, are such powerful storytelling tools. They help bring complexity into focus—showing not just where things happen, but how and why they matter.
We’re creating two new maps designed with these ideas in mind. We already have working prototypes, and we’d love to show you a demo. Let us know if you’re interested—we're excited to share what’s coming next.
Every community has a story, and the Central Okanagan's is one of growth, diversity, and opportunity. The Invest Kelowna Explore tool invites you to delve into this narrative through interactive maps layered with rich data.
Whether you're examining population demographics, workforce trends, housing statistics, or transportation networks, each layer adds depth to your understanding. By toggling between these layers, patterns emerge—revealing insights into economic dependencies, regional profiles, and social dynamics.
This multifaceted approach transforms raw data into a cohesive story, helping businesses, investors, and residents alike to visualize the region's potential and make informed decisions.
Discover more. Analyze deeper. Make smarter choices—start with the map.
We open a Zoom room for a casual chat about anything data and economic development related. It’s open to everyone, and you can drop in anytime and stay as long or short as your schedule allows.
CityViz Helps Power Cranbrook’s Choose Cranbrook Campaign
We’re proud to celebrate a recent win at the BC Economic Development Association conference in Penticton, where the City of Cranbrook received the Marketing Innovation award for their Choose Cranbrook initiative. CityViz had the privilege of supporting this success through our data portal, which, combined with their Economic Development website, played a key role in earning this prestigious recognition. It’s inspiring to see community-focused projects like these, along with other local agencies such as Kootenay Employment Services, being honoured for their commitment to economic growth and resilience in the region.
Thanks for reading the Field Notes. We’ll be back next week with more ideas, visuals, and community updates.
